Essence Gel Nails at Home Kit (Mini LED)

I was so excited when I heard that Essence had released an at home gel nail kit! Essence are one of my very favourite brands, being both affordable and actually having decent products. I have done my own gel nails before with pretty good results but I absolutely DESPISE the time-consuming removal process. When I saw that Essence’s kit boasted PEEL OFF removal AND could be used with ANY polish, I pretty much sprinted down to Priceline to nab one! I had very high hopes for this product, here’s what I thought.

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

It might come as a surprise to you to learn that Mother’s Day is a mere 2 weeks away (panic stations, go, go, go!). I know that it crept up on me a little this year, what with the excitement of so many public holidays and long weekends recently. I’ve decided to put together a little gift guide (with the help of my very own mum) to save you having to buy your mum a cheapo bunch of petrol station flowers and accompanying suspicious looking chocolates. With this gift guide in hand, you now have no excuse not to buy your mum a most excellent gift.

LUSH Brazened Honey Fresh Face Mask

Today we will delve into the delicious paradise that is LUSH! If you have been following my posts, then it’s no secret that I want to marry LUSH and have its babies. Just kidding, but I really do love LUSH. They have made a name for themselves as an eco-friendly, cruelty free brand and I have yet to find a product from LUSH that I don’t like. This post is all about the Fresh Face Mask in Brazened Honey, good enough to eat!

LUSH ‘s Eggcellent Easter Extravaganza

If you follow me on Instagram (which you most definitely should!), you might have seen my LUSH Limited Edition Easter range pictures. In honour of the Easter range, the LUSH on Queen St Mall hosted a little event to celebrate. It was a really fun night with lots of opportunities to test not only the Easter range but EVERYTHING in store AND we got to make our own bath bombs.

Liebster Award

Ah, the Liebster Award! This thing has been floating around for quite a while and I think it’s a nice way to recognize smaller or newer blogs, those with under 200 followers. There are a number of variations to the Liebster Award but I’m going to be following the rules as told to me by Sophia from Miss Sophie, who nominated me (thanks lovely!). The rules are:

MAC Techniques Class

So remember this post where I went into MAC for the first time EVER!? Well, I thought I might as well immerse myself in the brand, so I booked in to one of their MAC Techniques Classes at the same time. The idea of these classes is to run through a few looks with the MAC makeup artists and then have the opportunity to play around with some of the products. We also got to be in Myer after hours (I’ve always wanted to be in a department store after hours!) so it was like a little private party. The class cost $120 BUT every cent was redeemable for products on the night so I think it was well worth it.

Here’s a little overview of the night and what I ended up walking out with (besides a head full of new makeup techniques!).

The Lipstick Tag

An absolute age ago, Kirsty from Lipstick Addict tagged me to do the Lipstick Tag (sorry Kirsty!). I have been meaning to write this for so long but as some of you know, I work FIFO so I’m away for weeks at a time and it can be hard catching up when I’m back in the real world. But enough of those excuses, let’s get down to business (to defeat the Huns…Mulan reference anyone?....)!

Sephora Haul

A little while back, Sephora caused a major stir in the Australian beauty world by telling us they were going to ship to Australia. They then backtracked and said it was a mistake and they would be unable to ship to Australia for the foreseeable future. Mass outrage ensued! For a brief moment, the world of US cosmetics was open to us before Sephora slammed the door on that glimmer of hope.

LUSH Skin Saviours

About 2 months ago, I started having some serious skin issues. Prior to that, I had been having a dream run with my skin, it was fresh and glowing then BAM! Breakouts all over! They were awful, painful cystic pimples and they were everywhere. I can’t pinpoint the exact reason but the humidity was probably a contributing factor and I *might* have been using a very expired foundation too (oops…). In absolute desperation, I visited my local LUSH store for some advice and the lovely ladies there hooked me up with two absolute lifesavers that I credit with the miracle of getting my skin back to normal.

The Beauty Scenario Tag

I really enjoy tag posts, both reading and writing them so I am very happy to be writing this one for you today! I thought this was a good follow on from my Welcome post, as it might give you a more of an idea of my beauty style, such as it is. I was tagged by the lovely Reshma from Dazzlegloss3 to do this tag, I hope you enjoy reading my answers as much as I loved reading Reshma’s!

Her Fashion Box - March Review

The March Her Fashion Box FINALLY showed up on my doorstep today, delivered by my (not so) friendly postman. For those of you who have been living under a rock, Her Fashion Box is a monthly beauty subscription box, retailing for $39.95 month, which is quite pricey compared to some of the others. I used to subscribe to a lot of beauty boxes, but I felt the quality was deteriorating so I cancelled all my subscriptions except HFB. They have been my favourite box from the beginning and I’ve been looking forward to this month’s box, their 1st Birthday box, for a while. I wouldn’t say I’m disappointed, but it’s definitely an underwhelming box. I thought they would go all out for their birthday. Here’s what was in the (feminine) box:

MAC Mini Haul

It’s beauty confession time everyone! Here goes…Until very recently, I did not own a single MAC product…. Oh the shame! Feel free to point and laugh a la Nelson from the Simpsons. I can barely call myself a beauty blogger BUT I feel like I have completely redeemed myself by purchasing not one, but two MAC products on my very first visit to the MAC counter.

I decided to pay a lunch time visit to the MAC counter in Myer on Queen St Mall and here’s what I walked out with:

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the official grand opening of KaBOOM! Cosmetics (cue tumultuous applause)!
I have been hanging around on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook for a while now but I’ve been eagerly waiting to launch the written segment of my blog. The blog has been undergoing a little makeover and I have to thank the lovely Grace from Urban Hype Creative for all her hard work in turning my blog into a reality. So, to business!
