Just Eye-Browsing

Ladies like Cara Delevigne, Bambi and Lily Collins have brought back the brow in a big (bushy) way and I for one am celebrating. As someone blessed with more brow than I can usually handle, it’s a relief to be able to take a step back on brow maintenance and let them be free to march their merry way across my face. Well maybe I haven’t quite embraced my brows in their 10% natural state *cough* unibrow *cough* but over the years, I have accepted that I actually do have quite nice eyebrows! I’ve taken a step away from the tweezers and instead, I’ve stepped towards products that put the wow in my brows. Here are a few of my top picks:

Ardell Complete Brow Defining Kit $24.99

This kit came as part of one of the very first Her Fashion Box subscriptions that I ever received. As well as the brow palette, it came with a wax crayon and a mini angled brush. I like the palette mostly because it contains a light and a dark brown powder AND an ash/charcoal grey too. Unless you have black or very dark brows, the significance of this will escape you but it is very difficult to find suitable brow shades! The grey shade is perfect for my brows and it’s become my every day to-go brow powder. The palette also contains a light pink, shimmery shade which is great for highlighting your brow bone or even the inner corner. For $25, I don’t think there are many brow kits that can beat this one!

Make Up Store Tri Brow Color* $39.00

This genius little brow product is perfect for me, as all three of the shades are cool/grey toned and very natural looking. The Tri Brow is designed so that you mix the powders to get your perfect match, mine is a mixture of the medium and darkest shades. I just can’t get over how natural the colours are and how well they go on and stay on. You only need a very little amount of product as it blends beautifully. According to Make Up Store, these can also be used as eyeshadows, though I personally haven’t given that a crack yet.

NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil in Charcoal $8.95

I was over the moon when I first discovered this product as I had been searching for a grey brow product for ages with no success. This was also the last one left in Target in Charcoal so double win! The Auto Pencil has a brow brush on one end and a wind up dispenser at the other.  I like it because it’s very natural and easy to just fill in sparse brows without looking overdone, it’s great for every day wear.

Essence Lash & Brow Gel Mascara $3.50 for 9ml

It actually took me forever to track this down, apparently it’s a pretty popular item! I’ve never actually used it as a clear mascara but it’s perfect for controlling unruly eyebrows. You really only need a very small amount, so wiping the brush off before applying is a must. This feels quite wet when first applied but it dries quickly and did a really good job of keeping my brows in place and if you’ve seen my eyebrows, you know what a feat that it! I bought it to replace my Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel and while I think I prefer the application and consistency of the Anastasia Beverly Hills one, the Essence version gives it a pretty good run for its money.

Real Techniques Brow Brush (from the Starter Kit $39.99)

If ever there were a brush that worked with my brows, it’s this one! It’s quite chunky but it just fits the curve of my brow perfectly and it blends so so well. I use this with all of my brow products and it hasn’t failed me yet. Real Techniques really knew what they were doing when made this one ….and like, all of their brushes!

I hope you enjoyed brow-sing with me….. sorry, I couldn’t resist! But I hope you have enjoyed perusing my brow collection, I’d love to know what you do to pick up your brow game!

Great products! I love the look of the Makeup store trio! Even though I have very dark black/brown hair, finding a colour match can be hard too! Often some are too brown or straight up black. I find dark ashy browns work best. I love the Essence brow gel - so cheap yet effective. Definitely do need to wipe off the excess though. Also love the RT brush, even though it is bigger, I find it super quick to fill in the brows.

I really have to try that Real Techniques angled brush! It sounds lovely. I've never seen the essence gel in store, it's always sold out! I can see why though - so affordable! x

I agree! There seem to be a lot of products targeted towards girls with blonde or medoum brown brows but all the products for dark brown or black brows seem to be completely the wrong tone. I think we're definitely brow buddies, we seem to use and love the same brow products!

I definitely recommend the RT brow brush, it's a winner! And I'm not surprised you haven't seen the Essence Gel, it took me ages to track down, it was always out of stock. I hope to manage to find it, it's great for taming unruly brows!

The Ardell kit is a surprising favourite, I wish the grey shade was available on it's own though. I feel like I don't really use the two brows at all. But yay for bushy brows!
