What's in my Beach Bag?

I am a very lucky lady having recently come back from a wonderful 3 days on Stradbroke Island for New Year. While the weather wasn’t fantastic, we did manage to sneak in some time on the beach which is one of my absolute favourite things to do and it was the perfect way to start 2015. It was great not really worrying too much about makeup but are some of my beach essentials.

SunSense Daily Face Invisible Skin Tint SPF50+ $14.99 for 75g*
This product featured in my Summer Essentials blog swap post with Angie from themaquillage and with good reason. It’s one of very few facial sunscreens that is SPF50+ yet doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy and weighed down, in fact it actually leaves your skin looking matte. This is perfect worn alone as the slight hint of tint hides imperfections but it can also be worn under makeup where it acts as a primer.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist $16.95 for 100ml
I originally purchased this for a long haul flight as it’s perfect for maintaining hydration in the air but it works just as well at the beach. A day at the beach can leave you feeling very hot and bothered but a quick spritz of this not only cools you down but provides much needed moisture, all in one little spray bottle. My best tip for this is to leave it in the fridge or esky so that it’s lovely and chilled when you need it, it’ll really give a little extra cooling effect.

DIY Lip Balm
The DIY Lip Balm was one of my most requested posts, you can find the recipe here. For my latest batch, I went for a coconut and pink grapefruit flavour that it really hydrating but also lightweight. I gave out a few of these to family and friends over Christmas and got an overwhelmingly positive response. It’s actually become my go-to lip product and is definitely a beach essential but remember to store in as shady a place as possible to prevent a lip balm meltdown.

Lady Jayne Tangleze On-the-Go Detangling Brush $12.99 each*
Since my recent chop, tangles haven’t been so much of a problem for me but the combination of surf + wind + sand left my hair looking like what can only be described as a bird’s nest. This baby managed to tame my mane with minimal tugging and left me looking very presentable indeed! The Tangleze is not only compact and very effective but it’s also bright pink making it pretty difficult to lose at the beach!

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel SPF15 $24.99 for 40ml
This has become a firm favourite of mine after trying out a sample size sent to me by Beauty Heaven. It ticks all the right boxes: it’s lightweight, super hydrating, contains SPF15, absorbs quickly, is non-greasy AND comes in a very sleek little pump bottle, 100% perfect for the beach. Hydro Boost is perfect for rejuvenating skin that might have seen a little too much sunshine.

Victoria’s Secret Island Rush Body Spray $22.00 for 250ml
It’s no secret how much I love this particular VS scent, it’s my favourite but I don’t think they actually make it any more which is devastating. However, this is the perfect lightweight, fruity summer scent to take to beach. Now I’m not an extremely co-ordinated person (read: I trip over my own feet/nothing on a daily basis) but I do try to take part in beach games a little, if only for the amusement of my family/the general public. As much fun as beach games are (generally more for onlookers than me) they can leave you a little less than fresh. The VS body sprays are perfect for the beach as the packaging is plastic and won’t smash. Island Rush has a fruity, coconutty scent that fits in perfectly at the beach.

What are your essentials for a trip to the beach?
