Purity Made Simple by Philosophy

I feel like it’s been a while since I did a good old single skincare product review. I’ve been a bit all over the place with my skincare lately. When I’m working in the bush, I don’t have the time, space or inclination for a long involved skincare routine. It’s usually just cleanse, tone, moisturise and even that’s a struggle. Ever tried doing a skincare routine in a shower cubicle the size of a toilet stall? Not easy! But back to the topic at hand, today I’m reviewing the cult beauty hit, Purity.

The Brand – Philosophy

Philosophy was founded in 1996 in the USA and quite a science-y/medical background. They’re clinically formulated (does that even mean anything these days?) and dermatologically tested and all of the products are supposed to “work in harmony with your skin”. I can’t comment on that as Purity is the first Philosophy product that I’ve tried but I will say that I’ve been a long-time fan of the packaging, which is very plain and simple, often with a recipe or a quote on the front. I find the simple packaging very appealing and I’ve always been drawn to the products. Philosophy is also a cruelty-free brand and I think that fits well with their kind of natural, harmonious theme.

The Product – Purity Made Simple: 3-in-1 Cleanser for Face & Eyes $30.00 for 240ml

I spied this on a recent trip to Mecca and it’s been on my wish list for a while, so I thought, why not!? My go-to makeup remover is either LUSH’s Ultrabland or Garnier Micellar Water but I’ve been looking for something new for a while. Purity appealed to me because of a) the super simple packaging and b) the 3-in-1 makeup remover, cleanser and toner idea. The scent is kind of natural and herby, it puts me in mind of LUSH’s Angels on Bare skin. The product itself is runnier than I expected, it looks like of a like a bubble bath or shower gel.

So how well did it work? I was really impressed with this! I used a little bit of it on a sea sponge to remove my makeup and my skin felt so clean and fresh afterwards. It did a really good job with removing my makeup, even my mascara and I felt no irritation at all around my eyes. I haven’t yet tried this with heavy eye makeup but I’m pretty confident in its abilities. While I haven’t managed to make myself skip the toner step of my routine, I’m happy to use this as a makeup remover/cleanser. My skin is looking very bright and perky at the moment but now that I’ve written that, the Mt Vesuvius of pimple will erupt tomorrow, just you watch! Back to Purity, it’s a really great product and I think I may have found a Holy Grail product right here.

This is definitely a new favourite for me, I have awarded it a permanent position by the sink and given it first priority in all makeup removal situations. What do you think of Purity?

I feel exactly the same about the packaging - it's so appealing, and the colours of the products look so yummy too...I feel like I love them before I even try them!
Any Mt Vesuvias pimple action yet?

I feel like I'm more inclined to buy something if the packaging is pretty! I hear the Christmas range is pretty good too. And no Mt Vesuvius action yet, thanks goodness!
