May is done and
dusted! Can you believe we are almost halfway through the year? It feels like
it’s just whizzing by! Here’s what I got up to this month.
Out & About
Work has been a
bit hectic as we are gearing up for the field season which requires A LOT of
preparation. I did manage to get out with friends to a delicious little tapas
bar at Southbank called Olé but I was too busy drinking wine and eating tapas
to take any pictures! I was also given tickets at the last minute to attend the
launch of Ciroc Coconut at Dandy’s Rooftop Bar at the Fox which was fantastic.
The cockatails were delish, as was the food and we discovered the magic of
Uber, which is a private taxi service. Great night all up! This month also saw
the launch of the vlog section of KaBOOM! Cosmetics which I am thoroughly
enjoying, so please head over to YouTube and subscribe to my channel.
The other big news is that I got fitted for Invisalign. If you haven’t heard of them before, they’re a less noticeable alternative to traditional braces. I have some very wonky teeth that I’m getting straightened out and while I won’t actually start the treatment until next month at the earliest, I’ve been all fitted out and am just waiting for the retainers to be made. Let me know if you’d like some updates on the journey to better teeth.
I almost forgot to
include this part but I also visited the Benefit Brow Bar and let someone near
my eyebrows with hot wax for the first time in 10 years! I was really worried
but my fears were completely unfounded and my brows are looking fab. Let me
know if you’d like to see a post on my experiences at the Brow Bar.
Before (left) and after (right) my visit to the Benefit Brow Bar. I know it doesn't look like much here but it made a HUGE difference! |
Blog Rundown
Here are a few of my favourite posts from this
month:
Her Fashion BoxUnboxing (April) – Her Fashion Box are running behind on the boxes and I wasn’t
overly impressed with the April Box. Click through to watch the unboxing.
Milk Hair – I was
invited down to have my hair done by the lovely ladies at Milk Hair. I was so
impressed with the salon service and the way my hair turned out, I definitely
recommend visiting this salon if you’re in Brisbane. Click through to read
about my day at the salon.
Mother’s Day – Who
can forget that it was Mother’s Day in May? I wrote a very special post about
my mummy. Click through for some real feels!
Products
I discovered a few
fabulous new products this month, as well as rediscovering some old friends.
1. Bye Bye Miss American Dry Cherry Body
Lotion – This is an amazing body lotion by Anatomicals, who have
recently launched in Australia. Bye Bye Miss American Dry is a deliciously
light, cherry scented confection that I have fallen head over heels in love
with! I think I’ve used it every day since I bought it. I like to sing
“American Pie” very loudly and off-key in my best Don McLean voice when I use
this. PS – I don’t sing off-key on purpose, it’s just a natural talent of mine.
2. Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical
Clearing Gel – Despite the name being an absolute mouthful, the actual
product has been my BFF this month. I have had a pretty good run with my skin
lately (thank you, Mask of Magnaminty!) but I have had the odd spot around my
nose or chin. I’d forgotten all about this little blemish blaster but found it
lurking in my bathroom cabinet and gladly started using it again. It’s a clear
gel that forms a kind of barrier over the spot and dries it out/does something
magical to make it disappear. The only downside is that if you’ve been naughty
and squeezed or picked at the spot (guilty), it does sting a little when first
applied. Other than that, I’ve found it works pretty much overnight to make
spots all but disappear. It’s also great for those nasty, painful, under the
skin pimples.
3. Lush Let the Good Times Roll Cleanser
– Surprise, surprise, another Lush product that I love! This is the most
delicious smelling cleanser I have ever come across, it smells like caramel
popcorn and is a bright yellow colour. It’s made with polenta and it both
moisturising and exfoliating. You use it the same way you use Angels on Bare
Skin, Dark Angels and Herbalism, by taking a pinch and wetting to make a paste.
My skin has been loving this and it always makes me feel better when I open up
the container and get a whiff of caramel, mmmm!
4. Coconut Revolution Lip Balm in Cherry
– I was lucky enough to win the giveaway hosted by Sarah from More Than Adored
and received a great Coconut Revolution Prize pack. I’ve been nursing a slight
obsession with both coconut and cherry this month and this lip balm is a great
combination of the two. It’s made with cold pressed coconut oil and is very
moisturising as well as having a nice pink cherry tint and smell. Going into
winter, a lip balm is never far from my hand and I can see this one being a
favourite for the cooler months.
While May wasn’t
as action packed as April, it was still a great month for me. June will be a
bit of change because I’ll be heading into the bush for the field season. I
really enjoy most aspects of working out in the bush but being away from home for
3 weeks at a time is difficult and the phone reception goes from dodgy to
non-existent! I will be scheduling all my blog posts in advance so no change
there but I might not reply to comments or be as active on Instagram and
Twitter, so if you don’t hear from me, it’s because I’m out in the middle of a
paddock getting my hands dirty!
Bring on June!
Stay beautiful

I can see the difference after you had your brows done! I'm considering trying out Benefit's brow parlor

I can definitely recommend them, they are real pros! My brows are looking pretty fab, if I do say so myself :)
Sounds like May has been an awesome month for you! I hope June is just as eventful and satisfying :) Happy May!

I always feel like I didn't do much but it seems like quite a lot once I write it all down. Here's to a happy June too!
